There are many options available for brands to have their products third-party tested.  Sometimes, specific tests may be required by your local health authority.  Other times you may need proof of stability or preservative efficacy to achieve certification for a regulatory body or retailer requirements.  

Although they are optional, below is a brief description of the tests we recommend before you launch your product into the marketplace.  Our pre-production samples do NOT include the cost of testing.  

 

If you choose NOT to follow through with the recommendations, or perhaps you will conduct testing on your own, you will need to sign our Testing Opt-Out form that will be submitted along with your Purchase Order.

Testing recommended for new formulations (one-time):  

If we are developing a new formula for your brand, (which includes adding raw materials to an existing formula or adjusting percentages in any way), we highly recommend the following third-party, one-time testing regimes for your custom formula.  By opting out of these tests, your company will assume any and all responsibility in the event of preservative failure or product instability, as indicated by signing the waiver at the end of this document.

Testing recommended for EACH batch:   

It is required by Health Canada and the FDA that all cosmetics be free from harmful bacteria, yeast and mould.  They do not implement required micro-testing on each batch, leaving it up to the manufacturer to ensure the product is free from contaminants.    

However, it is wise to suggest a full Microbiological Package Analysis: be performed on each batch.  This includes:  e-coli, salmonella, total aerobic/plate count, s. aureus, p. aeruginosa, yeast and mold). Read more about these tests in the links below:
